Executive functioning coaching for teenagers typically works one-on-one with the teen to identify their strengths and areas for improvement in executive functioning. The coach collaborates with the teen to set specific goals and creates a tailored plan to address those areas. Each session is approximately an hour long.

Sessions can vary student to student, but typically they follow a similar format. The first portion of the session will involve going through each class that student has, and any outstanding assignments or upcoming assessments for each.  After this, we will focus on the development of a structured study plan, and similar activities that develop better habits and provide more ownership of their work and day to day activities.  The sessions are student centered, and are tailored to the specifics of what will help them succeed.

We can focus on other elements of organization (things like keeping their room clean, working memory etc.) as well.  The primary pedagogical focus of our sessions are to utilize student strengths to boost deficiencies, rather than simply focus on problems the student has.  This allows us to keep a positive approach and make consistent progress while avoid major lapses or steps back.
