Elementary Students
Executive functioning skills are crucial for children as they navigate various aspects of their lives, including academics, social interactions, and daily routines. Children struggling with executive functioning skills are often seen as underachievers, or can be labeled as “lazy” by those who work with them. Students can carry these labels with them throughout their lives, negatively impacting their self esteem and confidence. This can lead to issues of school aversion, difficulty maintaining relationships, as well as struggles with anxiety and depression
Sessions are typically an hour, but that can be long for younger students. With clients in this age bracket, we will spend 30-45 minutes working with the student, and taking the remaining time by working with the parents to reinforce skills and concepts developed during our session. With older clients, the onus of work is shifted more on them, as is the ability to maintain focus throughout the entire hour.
